Montana Children’s Health, the pediatric-focused venture fund managed by Ship2B Ventures, has received backing from CDTI Innovación, Spain’s public agency for the promotion of technological innovation.
This support reinforces Montana’s mission: accelerating innovation in children’s health by investing in companies developing solutions specifically designed for pediatric patients.
Despite representing a significant share of global disease burden, pediatric healthcare remains historically underfunded in venture capital markets. Many technologies developed for adults are later adapted for children, often leaving pediatric needs underserved.
Montana Children’s Health was created to address this gap.
Why now
Several forces are converging to make pediatric innovation a growing opportunity.
Advances in biotechnology, medical devices and digital health are creating new possibilities for treating childhood diseases that previously had limited therapeutic options. At the same time, healthcare systems and regulators are increasingly recognizing the importance of developing solutions tailored specifically for children rather than adapting adult treatments.
However, pediatric innovation still faces structural barriers. Development timelines are longer, clinical validation is more complex and traditional venture capital models are often not designed for these dynamics.
Montana was created with the conviction that aligning capital with the realities of pediatric innovation can unlock both meaningful impact and long-term value.

Investing in the future of children’s health
The fund focuses on supporting startups developing technologies, therapies and healthcare solutions designed specifically for children.
Pediatric innovation presents unique challenges. Clinical development cycles tend to be longer, regulatory requirements are stricter and the market dynamics differ from adult healthcare.
As a result, many promising technologies struggle to move from scientific discovery to real-world medical use.
Montana aims to bridge that gap by providing patient, specialized capital and supporting entrepreneurs working at the intersection of science, medicine and innovation.
As Marc Ramis, Managing Partner of Montana Children’s Health, explains:
“Translating scientific breakthroughs into real impact requires alignment between researchers, entrepreneurs and long-term investors. Pediatric innovation needs capital that understands the complexity of the science and the time required to bring these solutions to patients.”
Building a stronger pediatric innovation ecosystem
Montana Children’s Health is designed to support companies throughout the early stages of growth, helping them navigate scientific validation, regulatory pathways and market adoption.
Through this investment strategy, the fund aims to build a portfolio of companies capable of delivering both measurable health impact and sustainable long-term value.
At Ship2B Ventures, we believe that some of the most transformative innovations will emerge in sectors where impact and financial performance are deeply connected.
Advancing children’s health is one of them.
